She was a good girl this year, with lots of gifts from Santa Claus! Of course, I know it has been too long since I've posted anything on here. But hopefully a few pictures and her latest Christmas morning video will make up for the lapse in time! </div><div><br /></div><div>It's hard to chronicle all of the fun things she's doing now... walking, talking (some), and getting into EVERYthing! She's so much fun. Loves to laugh, dance and generally have a good time. Can't argue with that! </div><div><br /></div><div>She is a GREAT sleeper. Seems like all of those months of sleepless nights were worth it now. My work schedule doesn't allow ME to get enough sleep, but that's okay. </div><div><br /></div><div>She is a GREAT eater too. Even though she is "experimenting" (which is what the books call it) alot with throwing her food... she generally likes everything. She loves trying new things... especially whatever the "grown-ups" are eating! </div><div><br /></div><div>Christmas this year was wonderful. She had an excellent time with everyone and getting all kinds of fun gifts. Each year will be more and more interesting as she will begin to "get it" even more. Can't wait!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-55800187560835753262009-04-22T17:58:00.000-07:002009-04-22T18:33:51.020-07:00IT WORKS!!!!<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzobXX6bog8W75QOgRxcqrIhgxUf5W1aAO-m50DtleKE5HQBc-ehGFcAlqQGNjoy7pd-JmMGU7zwm7XdPHjAg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe> I don't know what happened, but now I can upload videos!!!!<div><br /><div>I'm going to try this once again! I am soo very sorry. But here's the deal... this site isn't allowing me to upload my videos. And for those of you on facebook, you know I've had some pretty dang good videos to share lately.<div>SOO, I'm going to keep trying, but I think my blog my soon transfer to just sharing photos on facebook. I may try to subscribe to another blog... but I'm still investigating.</div><div>So - for the (many) of you I've heard from who want to see more of Riess on the blog, join facebook!! I'll keep you posted, though.</div><div>Hopefully we can get the blog moving again.</div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-84864660959366591812009-01-11T05:12:00.000-08:002009-01-11T05:22:17.268-08:00BACK TO WORKHi all,<br />I apologize for the tardiness in my posts. It has been a crazy few weeks! I went back to work on the day after Christmas and since then, our lives have been quite a rollercoaster! Well, I guess we've been on a bit of a rollercoaster since Oct.29th!<br />Work is going well. It has been nice to get back in the groove of things. Luckily, Riess has a WONDERFUL babysitter to keep her while I'm gone. Jordan Royse has made my life so much easier! She is sitting with Riess Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays while I'm at work. My schedule is now all mornings -- that means I'm up at 2am and work until 1pm Saturday-Wednesday. My days off changed to Thursdays and Fridays, which is nice since Chris is usually home on Fridays.<br />I think I'll like the new schedule especially because it means I will have the afternoons at home with Riess! Especially this summer when we can go to the park or the pool (anyone know a family who can sponsor us at Lakeside??!!)<br />Of course that 2am wake up call means I'll probably never have a good night's sleep again...<br />Riess is quite the night owl. She likes to (finally!) drift off around midnight. That makes for some dark circles under my eyes! Hopefully soon she will adjust her schedule. She is sleeping for a good stretch when she goes down, so we're almost there!<br />More pictures to come... I promise!!Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-71181186350006504392008-12-25T16:36:00.000-08:002008-12-25T16:55:01.390-08:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmUkUh0nMEnI4kz3mVamf1DY59hRKECvKiAXAFdfrguKra74M_Ge2mkYYB6ckHwpVnucXTJY3kjSPc3Hu0i1Y_k8Mi1M1S5ppPDZcFC37_adMTS8ajQav8bRTiFCIP2zG2BBl2oORo9Ws/s1600-h/DSC02504.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmUkUh0nMEnI4kz3mVamf1DY59hRKECvKiAXAFdfrguKra74M_Ge2mkYYB6ckHwpVnucXTJY3kjSPc3Hu0i1Y_k8Mi1M1S5ppPDZcFC37_adMTS8ajQav8bRTiFCIP2zG2BBl2oORo9Ws/s320/DSC02504.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283893473763195090" /></a><br />Merry Christmas to all! We visited "Mamie" a week before Christmas and Riess LOVES her Christmas lights. Riess had a wonderful Christmas this year. Santa came to visit and she stayed up ALL night since she was so excited. She slept late, as did mom and dad to catch up. I think it will probably be the last Christmas that we sleep late ... EVER! I can't wait until the real fun begins in the coming years when she can really enjoy the season. <div>But today -- Christmas Day -- Riess has been asleep ALL DAY LONG. That probably doesn't mean good things for tonight. I return to work tomorrow, so Chris is on "daddy duty" tonight and all of next week too! </div><div><br /></div><div>But Chris and I agree that Riess was by far our best Christmas gift this year. We feel so very blessed to have our beautiful baby girl this year. And equally as blessed... my good friends Courtney and Brooke! Riess met Paisley (Brooke's daughter) and Addison (Courtney's) in Owensboro.... Paisley and Riess spent some time together...</div><div><div><br /></div><div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvtgO_rSZqhBUeJmXkm7ykQmnqSVtWp0rLTmrYtMzchck0J3ssdEKxskVUsc_T7ISi-dX1eQuVUlSkABarSRijYtT4oF_mAtfIMk_Y_Y19PAzjWxOouDchEDZW2g1tZaa-cXSYYmnjwJY/s320/DSC02506.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283893466763144882" /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihWdGwod7a0vTNqFwR4ESF8qTzhO8nzQNHooLe0ldtpM6gfCA2Yg9TQ6P18-W5BwlGZzJl6YAoH4QknwikhbDIUl3o_FDrf6kvggXBxPSpW7RUVisM4BOMu0XUj4ozwN5-kMOgOypcCGg/s1600-h/3girls.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihWdGwod7a0vTNqFwR4ESF8qTzhO8nzQNHooLe0ldtpM6gfCA2Yg9TQ6P18-W5BwlGZzJl6YAoH4QknwikhbDIUl3o_FDrf6kvggXBxPSpW7RUVisM4BOMu0XUj4ozwN5-kMOgOypcCGg/s320/3girls.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283893462275248994" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>On Dec.15th, Addison was born and all three girls are finally here! It was a wonderful time to see friends and family and share baby Riess with everyone. We certainly have a lot to be thankful for this year!!!</div><div><br /></div><div>I was MOST thankful for the help I got while at home! My mom ("Mamie") fed Riess for her 2am feeding the first two nights so Chris and I got to sleep a full 6 hours!!! It was wonderful to catch up on our sleep. And I think mom enjoyed her time with Riess in her room.</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXYyFDn1MKF7XBkpYtwbo0BfyZBgz1vGgmqtpt4HiAQm0SUDZQkWtlsCJLFtiC2e4F6b3LuGZrS2qT4Ex4cte0CJKw1XIwc6N3g8Z9AbJmvu5n8xQsSUG9-1aMVAdbv01Q74EFLa8wjx0/s200/DSC02446.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276504128009397714" /><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Riess also met Paisley for the first time -- she's Brooke's new daughter.. born Nov.18. She was 8 lbs, 14 ounces so she is already much bigger than Riess. What a cutie!</div><div><br /></div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMWa1u7EftPgWcNZMMliyFB3iycZ8TdKld2ID9nJ6_jZEzvvCF9f3O66ZBftYEva_A5VNT7vRQAzFC0JOJwI7S952gfPtklvvKd9nQ8LQquzZMVQixR1u8IJ3ck6K0pza3I4XsiVtTo5A/s200/DSC02437.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276504103357576402" /> "Paisley and Riess"<div><br /></div><div>Now there's only one of us left to go! She had a doctor's appointment this week and she is now 8 lbs, 1 ounce. She is 20 inches long. That means she is only in the 10th percentile for weight and height. The doctor says that's completely normal given her ...ahem, genes.... that would be from the 5-footer, mom. She can curse me later. She's just a petite little thing like momma!</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ6qlxcQPiOK2vfCLxOJO2GVVnNWfHD1swq0gdCFPjOxmxffQEqHqxPrbHt3J6XXeoDpc-oDpfcuGEQ9awnX3zm078vH7gk4WtJ9MvsHjgZqA_a6l_j8cTNyaOR8yGfK3fQC9kXnYVUJI/s200/DSC02445.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276504110772812722" /><br /><br />I also took on the task of taking some pictures of Riess for our Christmas card. What a hoot that was! I took nearly 100 pictures.... about 3 of them are usable! I have a whole new respect for those people who take pictures of babies for a living. It certainly is not easy. Here are a few of my favorites...<div><br /></div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvAeVRiXkHjbgI8acic8jrySEtzUOoFZYQOArbauVnLf7XVjds2fvH-4LydmPebu2z5q2AaHXIOWxn3W__cr6pTKRqLUS_Hz9SCZq0o7Bz2ooioZOQqFm80QaO3H59980PvWdsrE0dpu4/s200/DSC02459.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276502383566212626" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLEFSIX07bTqe8dzCyfpmtCQezvbDGGYvPqsIbAS86jBcMYIlV8T7nqSkawXT79UT4-YBJ-3u-nrFO9U_DtJBIjwdYR-q9vV_SsL1o8cjf4sShaeQ4unQzxrSkK3glVjLd2w1OeFzkUVY/s200/DSC02476.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276502399822666722" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC8NJf0kCMODPEZOeDx4T8ejfRb1fsmqGiZO6qvCNgRpxjdVnEFlimug_xUo1LRdHM_gn_bWZJzm8OASiaVQRVuJqPt-Yj80DgQ_ruCCcgupbdO94FPtxkSm4kPjBSEosqTK-OKQflsZ0/s200/DSC02463.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276502392444014194" /></div><div>Hilarious!!!!!<br /><br /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuILK-DmvYTUWTuLsqK23mDc0qNjggdI63M5C8ajeW0CymmTo3W3rGt4RWLm9eMj1MAsdmD5t2Ql4h3N_yybAZTTIM2Uf660gFMypcrbhl-X0kY7JKSa75S-euYAEhpI6F-GiCxPgKYXU/s200/DSC02500.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276502401629526610" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqgQWqSHg38oO_4GSmJWk_d4ENvTA3fP6W3yFLEKfugoC4CTkcPNHzeqzvpwbECvlHC0Um5S4NnR9qPgYNybUcpdCvRU05cpee7GCmz-f-1OhdvCM5FTW9v2az2N855dDHNNTOZM90API/s200/DSC02493.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5276502409891062498" /></div><div>But there were a few good ones.... I'm sorry to say, it wasn't a pleasant experience for Riess! We had done a few sponge baths before her umbilical cord "stump" fell off, but this was the real thing. I will say she likes to have her hair washed. She was calm for that part, at least. But the whole naked/cold/water thing doesn't fly well with her!<div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwv2ynogLnCQj2q8bjwbRxupFPEO3koLrWMOoheBTTSwyXciH1baBwlMPTs9AskLwPNnxk_jsDk4iF-qMwb3pTaAnrSA5GuzAA6iKWQmDRCqsUVX3ijMfCr8yDZFEjdO1nz5J9nh23cGQ/s200/DSC02413.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5270182561350673778" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRQOZ9augh2unNezbflW3Tn5aGOPZhKiNyV56Iu-zCQt4cq9LZCLPDOU8dhIUvyFKAGIO_b1qB6lpUZYgxDAwS_4_p9xboJHWPwue0ubqbN1wW72ph2mF9z1tqKVLQH4OgqdYfBpR8ynI/s200/DSC02414.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5270182567728549122" /></div><div><br /></div><div>And we had more fun visitors this week! Last night was a better night, thank goodness. She slept between her feedings until around 5am, at least. It's hard since Chris is now back to work... he isn't here to take over some of those middle-of-the-night crying spells! I'm pulling out all of the tricks tonight, though. I went out today and bought a special sleeping "wedge" that will supposedly help and some baby gas drops (that's her main problem at night - her gassiness hurting her little belly). I'm also feeding her more often at night before she goes to bed and trying to keep her up awhile longer at night. She's slowly getting the hang of it.</div><div><br /></div><div>The crying is frustrating, especially with no sleep on my end. I am officially "full term" now, so I'm not sure I should be driving alone in a car for two hours at this point or not. </div><div>But, I decided to do it and I'm glad I did. Yes, I'm already back in Louisville safe and sound with no signs of labor, so don't worry.</div><div>My mom said if anything happens, "I can get you back to Louisville in two hours... no problem!" All I could think about when she said that was this story I did a few weeks ago about a grandmother delivering her grandson in a car because she couldn't get her daughter to the hospital in time!! </div><div>I'm sure my mom could do it, but there's just something about being in a hospital with the doctor and all.........</div><div>Anyway, Courtney's shower was wonderful and I'm glad I made it since I was one of the hostesses! She seemed to enjoy it and Addison got lots of fun gifts.</div><div>It was the last trip I'll make to Owensboro before Riess arrives! So we had to get one last "belly" picture with all three of us girls who are expecting...</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP-kouPtgQLZLiRomnSXoWLBc9XssIJwkTwF39QVmWb9FwzKNC7ivTi7gM4fXzFXlBU93YAXsgdCgi0STTf4qDz9pEOlUxACcpM_ku1pp_PZp6ZtdS_GWwZpckBI-fp7bFs7FzfteX2co/s1600-h/baby+girls.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP-kouPtgQLZLiRomnSXoWLBc9XssIJwkTwF39QVmWb9FwzKNC7ivTi7gM4fXzFXlBU93YAXsgdCgi0STTf4qDz9pEOlUxACcpM_ku1pp_PZp6ZtdS_GWwZpckBI-fp7bFs7FzfteX2co/s200/baby+girls.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259430645635551698" /></a><br /><div>Me, Courtney and Brooke are all expecting little girls by the end of the year! Well, check out the fruit she is this week: a watermelon. And I can tell you, it sure feels like I am carrying around a watermelon! And if you look at the picture of me below, it looks like I have a watermelon under my skin too! So that's good news. </div><div><br /></div><div>By the way, she estimates Riess is already at the 7 pound mark... and expects her to be at least 8 pounds by the time I deliver!!!! She is doing just fine and has been very active lately. I'm counting on her not showing up until her due date, since I still don't have her nursery finished! Don't worry, though, it is getting there! Chris and I will be putting some of the finishing touches on it today.<br />I've been washing all of her bedding, clothes and socks this week. I have found I LOVE the smell of Dreft! It smells just like a sweet baby. I think I may start using it for some of my own laundry! But folding her tiny clothes and socks make me super excited to see her in them. She already has quite a wardrobe, thanks to all of her loving friends and family (and a few things from mom.... okay, it's hard to resist!) <br />I am now seeing the doctor once a week, so each Monday I will be in the doctor's office for an update. He says he should be able to give me a "good idea" if I should be on "standby" that week or not. This is good... especially for Chris, who I'm still worried will be stuck in an airport in Green Bay when our precious little one arrives. <br />As soon as I know, I will let you all know. And those nursery pictures are coming soon! By the way, the rug in the room is super comfy and Guinness has decided it is there solely for his sleeping pleasure. He loves it and I've found him sleeping in there on several occasions without anyone else in the room. We'll see how that goes over when there is a screaming baby sharing "his" room...<br />Soon enough!Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-9338503033185179592008-10-07T18:51:00.000-07:002008-10-07T19:02:04.904-07:0036 weeks: ready for her close-up! And so here's a bonus post! Our picture of baby Riess isn't as good this time as last, because she is pretty squished up in there. Her face was squished into the placenta, so it was hard for them to get a good look at her face, but here's one of the better pictures. <div>I like it because she's waving to us all out here! I have heard from lots of you about getting back on the ball and writing. I'll admit, I haven't had much time to write lately, so here's a BIG update.</div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX99YZOBiwRFkeqUpT4F6JhuRj4WCBsGW8SzRooVjzCUbXgM-U7gaW9Ex1Xd4ZYBiy_k2MUO4hOgiY1CVfNJQRQsWUfRlsHMiS0SrTfBS0aIPqvIfIwmrNEwWWhem_fzk2hJ2LcPgeB1Q/s200/DSC02213.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5254582491346790114" /><br /></div><div>So first up, here's the latest belly picture. And this was about a month ago!</div><div><br /></div><div>We are exactly one month away from my due date now. Hard to believe! </div><div>Yesterday, Chris and I went to my 36-week checkup. That's where we had another ultrasound and an exam. We found out that "little" Jane Riess can now go by "big" Jane Riess... she is already weighing in at 6 pounds and 8 ounces!! No doubt, she will be a big, healthy girl!</div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWANVx_casN292fE-zqsO7cAfuDFYrEstJJiwIMvd8ya9uSvr62w4F2xp5hY5fzGNfhSZMVlgQM2-X_AXhS-eSnB5mD93lBlUBarjnp0hHiSpRBHwylDWpvn24zBi8ehlfbFCfKm29XMw/s200/DSC02262.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5254582498267355154" /><br /></div><div>We also found out I am not yet dilated, which is good. And it looks like I'm right on target to deliver fairly close to my due date (as of now. Of course, that could change!) </div><div><br /></div><div>A good thing she's not coming too soon, because the second thing everyone wants to know about is the NURSERY.</div><div><br /></div><div>No, I'm not finished with it. And yes, I'm working on it!</div><div><br /></div><div>Here are pictures I took of the "before:"</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1nhqNSuiYYbaAmPTOX378FMY_1Owt7ZnWmj_G-KrZkbwQDrFHg5w0TkZKtjh_4YdYOoatLVMctQNgxTCU2B_m3nPqvECtFllmEDU1hdixQU3CAsDYHT53wWcC4dlG6NvC52mdXeNGBeM/s1600-h/DSC02256.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1nhqNSuiYYbaAmPTOX378FMY_1Owt7ZnWmj_G-KrZkbwQDrFHg5w0TkZKtjh_4YdYOoatLVMctQNgxTCU2B_m3nPqvECtFllmEDU1hdixQU3CAsDYHT53wWcC4dlG6NvC52mdXeNGBeM/s200/DSC02256.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5254582490603473794" /> </a><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBDq-hRBot7dzoZNqsrCnYwzvYIS9aiDijH50I6NT6LCrQFZyRIJpOEmePSVF6z4C4Li7_9iBuSSvG9Ap-TNYFebGQl6P_RZQpxehyphenhyphenNGZKngVXrzyDd75ahpo0nA3uo-RY7ztBrwIwcoU/s200/DSC02257.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5254582495714557650" /></div><div>See, this was our bedroom. We had to move our things out of there, and move to the bedroom next door. Now, trust me... this isn't what it looks like today. It's really shaping up now, but I'm going to wait to post those pictures when it is finally finished. So, stay tuned!!!! </div><div><br /></div><div>Chris painted the room the weekend before last and this weekend, we put together all of the furniture. So, it's getting there! It looks great. </div><div><br /></div><div>And that brings me to a big thank you... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU... to all of you who were able to come to my baby showers. I would certainly not have nearly enough cute, cuddly, and practical things to put in that nursery if it weren't for you all. For those of you who sent gifts but weren't able to make it, we missed you and I so appreciate you thinking of us. I had three wonderful showers ... and came home with more than I ever imagined for Miss Riess. She is a lucky girl, as am I, to have friends and family like you all. </div><div><br /></div><div> Keep posting comments. I love reading them. And I promise I'll be posting more soon! This is all just leading up to the main attraction... she'll be here in about 30 days!<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-51896403282407949712008-09-22T20:28:00.000-07:002008-09-22T20:32:50.771-07:00POWERFUL!We finally got our power back yesterday afternoon! It was a LONG seven days going without electricity! I didn't realize how much sleep I lost until I slept in my comfy room with the air conditioner on and my fan full blast last night. Ahhh... just wonderful.<div>The silver lining of it all is that Chris was able to work from Louisville last week because of everything happening. It was wonderful having him home. Plus, we spent a LOT of time talking and planning all things baby since we couldn't entertain ourselves with the TV or internet. We spent some good quality family time, just the four of us (Guinness included). </div><div><br /></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-68485812591112235612008-09-17T13:33:00.000-07:002008-09-17T13:50:24.160-07:00Lights OutMany of you all felt it too... the "Windstorm of 2008." At least, that's what my station has dubbed it. We certainly felt the winds of Hurricane Ike hit here this Sunday. We had 81 mph winds - a category 1 hurricane!<br />Who would have thought we would leave Charleston and then have a hurricane hit Kentucky?<br />So, Chris and I are still without power for a 3rd day along with about 150,000 Louisville residents (as of today). The trees knocked down powerlines and electricity to 75% of the city. Our neighborhood still looks like a disaster area.<br />We (so far) narrowly missed real disaster when the wind split one of the large trees in our backyard in two sending half of it bending over our roof. Luckily another large tree caught it, but now both trees are bending right over our roof. Chris was so worried that they could come crashing through the roof in the middle of the night that we spent the first few nights in our basement on the futon bed. Now, THAT was comfy for my aching pregnant body...as you may imagine!<br />We are now gambling that the tree is stable and sleeping in our bed upstairs. <br />Chris is working from the Deloitte office in Louisville this week in order to stay home with me and Guinness. It has been a real treat having him home in the evenings after work... it's like we're a normal family!<br />We're waiting for the tree people to get around to our house to remove the trees (who knows when!) We're also waiting for power to be restored (also who knows when!) We've been told it could be the middle or end of NEXT WEEK before we have electricity again.<br />Luckily the weather has been beautiful since the storm, so as long as our doors and windows are open it's fairly nice. I was off work Monday and Tuesday and it truly is amazing how much I can get done around the house with no television, phone or Internet! <br />I'm back to work today (hence the being back online). I know power is still out in parts of Owensboro as well... my mom included. I hope everyone gets back up and running soon. The novelty of it all wore off after the first night for us...Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-84122883452457789152008-09-11T19:10:00.001-07:002008-09-11T19:20:38.412-07:00Barefoot and Pregnant<div>Well, I finally know where the phrase "barefoot and pregnant" came from. It doesn't only apply to us Kentuckians, or even those from West Virginia... although I know that's the stereotype. </div><div>I am officially barefoot and pregnant -- and that's the only way I'm comfortable.</div><div><br /></div><div>My feet have swollen to the size of small melons. Nothing is comfortable on my feet... even my most comfortable shoes leave marks where any straps touch my skin. </div><div><br /></div><div>Yesterday, I walked to grab lunch in (what used to be very comfortable) flats. They started to hurt about halfway through the walk. By the time I got back to my desk, I had to kick them off and prop my feet up under my workstation. Unfortunately, the time came for me to walk to the printer. I went to slip my feet back in the flats... and whoa! they wouldn't fit. I debated walking over in my bare feet, but I knew it would be entirely too cliche to do so. So I squeezed my club feet into my shrinking shoes and waddled over to the printer. You should have seen me walk to my car. I can't imagine labor can be much more painful than that (okay, just kidding...)</div><div><br /></div><div>So, yes, I'm officially barefoot and pregnant. I am a classic Kentuckian. And proud of it. Because here at home, writing on my computer, I can spread my fat toes. But tomorrow, I'm going to have to buy some bigger shoes.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLO4TGhueu-7kEEkmlkI6xmYrZ1ovYfavvvP8WFZU7bedVrPy-kY_7vjGZWWUAhx7l1rt_tR7zB8zseYUjg0N_nL4bhnWwEWR7eQjLXROX3pPrsoNm2-hAwtys081KzzzqfB247actH4A/s1600-h/DSC02210.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; Turns out, we did come down with something awful. Doctor says it may be strep throat, we are waiting for the test results to come back. I was nervous about the antibiotics she gave me to take, but all my doctors say it's fine. Today, I'm finally feeling well enough to get out of bed for the first time in a few days.<div>Good thing, since I had an appointment at the baby doctor today. All is well with baby Riess. She's about 3 pounds now - right on track. I, on the other hand, have already gained 25! I got to hear her healthy heartbeat again. The doctor reiterated that the antibiotics are fine for me to take. She's still kicking a chorus line.</div><div>I'm still pretty tired and the throat is still very sore. Definitely starting to get better now.</div><div>We had to skip our birthing class last night (Chris was SO disappointed, as you can imagine.... *wink, wink*). I didn't feel well enough to go and I didn't want to pass this along to any of the other pregnant ladies there.</div><div>So, I'm starting to feel better -- I just hope I'm all better in time for the UK-UofL game this weekend! Lacey and Kristi are both visiting for the weekend. Lacey and Greg are staying with us for a fun weekend! My throat better be 100% by Sunday...</div><div>GO CATS!</div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-39886979196597349832008-08-23T17:15:00.000-07:002008-08-23T17:23:55.974-07:00Summer DazeA rough night for Riess and me last night... we got a little sicky, but I think it was something bad I ate. I'm feeling better today, but still suffering from a bad headache. I'm working nights this week so I got to sleep in today (and work until midnight instead). <br />Today Chris and I went to the pool with Chris and Jennifer Mayer. I love the pool, but Chris LOVES the pool. He is a 10-year-old boy when he's there. He's doing flips off the diving boards and exchanging tips with all the kids in line about the best dives. It's truly hilarious. Jennifer and I are just glad the boys have each other to jump off the boards, conduct sprint races and underwater hold-your-breath contests. It means Jennifer and I can chat and read our magazines like normal adults. Chris, nearing his 30th birthday mind you, will definitely be sore tomorrow.<br />We also ran into a friend of a friend who had a little girl last November, so we got a little sneak peak at what our baby Riess will be like this time NEXT summer! Can't wait to take HER to the pool. Now THAT will be fun for both of us. I can play in the pool with that little one!<br />On another note, my mom's little one, Rizzo, is back at home and doing much better now. The doctors think a new heart medication she was on was causing her sickness. Now she's off that medicine and apparently feeling much better. Aunt Rizzo just must make it long enough to meet baby Riess. I'm sure she will. For those of you who know Rizzo, she's a fighter! For my mom's sake, let's hope she's around a long long time...<br />No new pics this time -sorry! I'll take some this weekend as the belly is progressing (whoa)... and the nursery is actually getting underway.Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-35329957613952386402008-08-20T18:27:00.000-07:002008-08-20T18:46:06.640-07:00Visiting<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeirRETW7d1kyLz9HUO1J7kIhCplUy69D12Z-Ng2MgZMJda330WFDjp3ISgzts0-3QOkPBbUAeDSbDdxF_YFnXMcOhvcJrAK7akdv9nM9vM5433sRcghGTOXjLLqvI68rRrUEtFW3v7Jk/s1600-h/DSC02144.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeirRETW7d1kyLz9HUO1J7kIhCplUy69D12Z-Ng2MgZMJda330WFDjp3ISgzts0-3QOkPBbUAeDSbDdxF_YFnXMcOhvcJrAK7akdv9nM9vM5433sRcghGTOXjLLqvI68rRrUEtFW3v7Jk/s200/DSC02144.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236777322630578626" /></a>Jamie Wellman came to Louisville and brought Riess a sweet gift! She will have the cutest little tootsies in town with these precious socks/shoes. Incase you can't see them well, they are baby socks that look like little Mary Janes. They have pink beads and bows on the back. What else for my little twinkle toes?<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /></span></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Later that week (and forgive me, I'm far behind on blogging...), I went back to Owensboro to visit the fam. She's not doing too well. She is 13 years old, believe it or not! She's still fairly frisky for a woman of her age. She's getting some fluids in the animal hospital this week and mom hopes she will be back at home by Friday. We'll keep you posted.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /></span></div><div><br /></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-87776428437751258432008-08-12T14:06:00.001-07:002008-08-12T14:12:07.848-07:00Birthing ClassLast night, Chris and I attended our first "birthing class". It's a series of four classes over four weeks. Chris has arranged his schedule to be home on Mondays to attend.<div>Our first class was more of a classroom setting... where we learned all about the anatomy of birth, terms, etc. </div><div>And YES, we did watch a very graphic birthing video. I teared up. Chris said he stared at the woman's head in front of him the entire time so he didn't have to watch. Hmmmm... signs of what's to come?</div><div>Of course, after class he said, "Man, I could've taught that class! I already knew everything they said..."</div><div>I guess he forgot about the part where he leaned over to me to ask, "What does <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">breech</span> mean?"</div><div>Anyway, it was a learning experience. I'm sure our next three classes will be even more informative. </div><div>I know we have plenty to learn!</div><div><br /></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341185869143331468.post-31875330715565462372008-08-05T16:59:00.000-07:002008-12-08T17:05:39.130-08:00Another Doctor's VisitToday I (we) made another trip to the doctor's office. Baby Riess is doing just GREAT. Her heartbeat is strong and loud. I had to take a test at this appointment for gestational diabetes. I find out in three weeks how that pans out. I'm sure it's fine, since I feel great!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWxqNUN8as3V8prg-mo_IYDpj9p2Hw96lwoJGrgjjtALeXODAaM-vWHQ37hCD92DKiZ4NV0fkXDfgTvXbPBSWXomHOqym4LjgNMfqzYSt8mraJZqYNPphgDW1HfsRMkjkxkXLXEh2IEY/s1600-h/DSC02151.JPG"></a><div><br /><div>He also said that I've gained 19 pounds so far... and I am a little behind in the weight gain aspect. He says you should gain about a pound for every week you're pregnant. I'm now 27 weeks pregnant. But when he said I could "stand to gain a little weight"... I thought, ARE YOU KIDDING?! I feel like I'm a whale already! </div><div><br /></div><div>Chris is right on track with his "baby weight" gain. It might have something to do with the fact that you can find both of us at Graeter's Ice Cream nearly every weekend evening.</div><div><br /></div><div>We both have our "baby bellies..." But I think I'm quickly surpassing him:</div><div><br /></div><div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWxqNUN8as3V8prg-mo_IYDpj9p2Hw96lwoJGrgjjtALeXODAaM-vWHQ37hCD92DKiZ4NV0fkXDfgTvXbPBSWXomHOqym4LjgNMfqzYSt8mraJZqYNPphgDW1HfsRMkjkxkXLXEh2IEY/s1600-h/DSC02151.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWxqNUN8as3V8prg-mo_IYDpj9p2Hw96lwoJGrgjjtALeXODAaM-vWHQ37hCD92DKiZ4NV0fkXDfgTvXbPBSWXomHOqym4LjgNMfqzYSt8mraJZqYNPphgDW1HfsRMkjkxkXLXEh2IEY/s200/DSC02151.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231188361240145618" /> </a><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0iV16-0JhJ3uBFd_3VdrtLo-iAWHSSiEqkt0rDzPQ0OWAoIBys2FF525eLoteblQL9xIs5CZ0Ckijc9IkJjQlsru9vBev-DsntEC3f-8F1tm7MiS-grYCsaQ92SKDsLyqf5ZvGwXe6PE/s200/DSC02149.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231189552774510786" /><br /><div><br /></div><div>I had this Sunday off and I went home to spend some R&R time at my mom's house at the pool. I had a great time with all my girlfriends... we hung out by the pool and had a lot of baby talk! I can't believe that this time next year, we'll have THREE baby girls playing in the pool together. Hard to believe. </div><div><br /></div><div>Our time between doctor's appointments is just three weeks now. I go back August 26th for my next check-up. </div><div><br /></div><div>We also begin our prenatal classes next week -- that should be interesting! I know Chris and I have a lot to learn before baby arrives! </div><div><br /></div><div>More pictures of my visit home soon...</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div></div>Kelseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03871587525070535760noreply@blogger.com1
